Hi
Are there any childcare centres on the Southside that offer part time hours or half days? If so, what is your experience with this centre?
Thanks Rioters!

Call Communities at Work. They run several centers that allow for part-time and even occasional daycare. Another option is Lollipops affiliated with Woden Community Centre. Our daughter has attended there for a few weeks for occasional care until school starts up and it’s pretty good. It’s not amazing but it’s good and I don’t have any qualms about my daughter’s safety or care. They have a curiculum for the 4-5 year olds that is quite good. Lollipops does both part-time and occasional care.
My son goes to a Communities at Work centre on the north side and I haven’t had any problems. Once a week, twice a week, 3hrs to 10hrs he’s been there.
If there’s one on the south side, I’d start there.
My son now goes to Majura Park Daycare and also family day care at a home in Isabella, but prior to that, before returning to work full-time I used Appletree day-care centre in Wanniassa which is part of Communities at Work. I could usually get short notice spots with them. I was happy for him to be there for a half day once or twice a week – they looked after him well. Having since experienced fantastic child-care at Majura Park where the staff are second to none, I would say that the downside to part-time hours, half days and short notice care is that the staff don’t get the opportunity to know your child as well as they do with the full timers. Communities at Work is a good starting point if you are new to the whole child-care scene.
If you are able to travel a bit further I can’t recommend Majura Park Childcare enough – they do half days although not sure of current availability.
