I still don’t understand why people ruin them by putting dried fruit in them. I reckon Jesus would think dried fruit is sh!t too.
Jesus was certainly a little tetchy about fresh figs:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cursing_the_fig_treeI didn’t find any reference to him eating dates in my extensive 30 second search. So maybe there’s something in your theory. He preferred wine to sultanas.
Could it be that the priests have been confused about what dates to eat?
I collected trolleys at Woolies ten years ago and had to work on Boxing Day. I was told that Easter Eggs and hot cross buns had come in a few days before Christmas and staff were told to put them on the shelves for sale on Boxing Day.

What is it about a lot of hot x buns that makes them bitter?
Sultanas from sour grapes?
Will be heading to the shops ASAP to load up on hot x buns – with fruit!

If I was crucified on a cross I would not be resurrected for dried fruit. Easter should be celebrated by eating crisps.
Woolies looks to ahve rolled them out nationally on Saturday. Mates in WA and Queensland reported seeing, and Woolies Lanyon had them as well.
Why bother taking them off the shelves at all? Next year the eggs and buns will hit the shelves late November, then it will be late October..Stop with the pretence and just sell them all year..Ruins the expectation a little, but I don’t think the major supermarkets really care much about that.
Woolworths Erindale managed to squeeze them in before the new year, with a sighting on 29 December 2012. The catalogues currently show Coles and Woolies whoring themselves at a rate of $6 for two packs (Coles) and $7 for two packs (Woolies) respectively.

And with 362 days to Christmas people have decorations on their houses already!
They’ve been in Woolies since at least 1 January. Before anyone starts about how outrageous it is, if people didn’t buy them, then the supermarkets wouldn’t have them out so early in the year.
