Similar to an immature spotted bower bird perhaps – but I don’t think it is as the lower breast doesn’t appear to be quite as speckled. Looks a bit like the satin bower bird except the birds I see don’t have their blue eyes.

There are no Spotted Bowerbirds in the ACT

Does anyone happen to know what type of bird it is in photo 40 of 42? The greenish one on the left.

I periodically see these at home (far south coast) but haven’t been able to positively identify them.

Female and male Satin Bower Bird.

The Cat bird is very similar in appearance to the Female Satin Bowerbird, and there are plenty of them down the south coast as well, so the bird you are seeing at the coast may be either.

While there are Green Catbirds around the south coast, they are very uncommon south of Narooma. I don’t think that have been recorded in the far south coast. Most probably it was a Satin Bowerbird. Both sexes are almost identical untill the male at around 5 years acquires his satin plumage.

Thanks everyone. Yes #40 are Satin Bowerbirds – male on the right, #39 are Spotted Pardelote – male on the right, #41 are Gang-gang cockatoos – male on the left, and #42 are Common Bronzewings – male on the right.
