Sure is Spring…my son was attacked by 3 magpies today!! The buggers are out early so get your zip ties on your helmets and watch out!!
Have walked Canberra’s leafy streets in spring very often, including right past nests with the parents watching. Never swooped once! Frankly, it’s very easy to avoid. I would suggest teaching your son rather than just calling the magpies “buggers”.
Thanks for the unsolicited advice creative…I’ll put that on my to-do list.
Perisher sure felt like spring on the weekend. The white stuff is getting slushy

If they are local birds you can feed them. Yesterday I watched a magpie and two ravens swooping a wedge tailed eagle right in front of me. Pretty impressive watching the wedgy flaring its wings to let the magpie pass in front. Persistent buggers.

Cyclists need twin 40mm Bofors mounted on their pannier racks in Spring in Canberra.
Unlike zip ties, they would be both effective and garner respect.
What are these ‘bofors’?
(note I didn’t say ‘what’s a bofor?’ in case this was a trick and you answered ‘for shooting arrows’)
let me wiki that for you:

Spring is WAAAYYYY TOO EARLY this year I mean a record-breaking 21°C on the 3rd of August, and they STILL say spring starts on September 1. There have been far too many early 20°Cs creeping into August lately. It should NEVER reach 20°C in Canberra in August as they include that month in “winter”.

Sadly I have no photo to post…I was too distracted by the screaming and watching him try to *escape* that I forgot to get the camera out!
