Anyone know where I can hire a stand up paddle board in Canberra?

If you don’t get it, give it a go… It is a lot of fun and is a good way to explore water ways. As for how they handle in Swell, you do realise that SUP’s originated from Hawaii, and you can see people out in the surf any morning at Bondi or Manly. So you can use them in the surf and on lakes and rivers, they have also been known for rapids. So as for limited usefulness, they pretty much tick all the boxes!

Can someone explain paddleboarding to me? I get surfing, I get windsurfing, I get kayaking. But why paddleboarding – its inefficient (say in comparison to any other paddle vehicle), has limited use (try doing it when there is any sort of swell), is no fun (if you want to catch waves use a surfboard).
Is it just an exercise activity, like jogging, rather than something with a real purpose?
I don’t get it either. It just looks like hard work with limited usefulness
Thanks for comments #1+ #2
Scotty @ Wetspot has gone on holidays and taken both SUP’s (!!!) so none available for hire,..
cant blame him really as I would prob do the same in his shoes lol
Now to Plan B- how does the windsurfer board go?, it may not be as stable in the water ???

Hi dusty,
Go and see Scotty at Wetspot – 13/68 Wollongong Street Fyshwick (02) 6239 1323 – he is the driving force behind getting SUP’s up and running in Canberra at the moment. You can hire, try, and he also runs ‘come and try’ days on the lake periodically. Hope this helps 🙂
As a cheap way, we bough a 2nd hand learning windsurfer from (much larger board)
Then went to Anaconda and got paddles. 🙂
Now you can try both paddle boarding AND windsurfing.
