A man from Sydney has become the ACT’s third road fatality for 2025. He died weeks after a single-vehicle crash in Watson.
A station wagon left the road and hit a tree at the intersection of the Federal Highway and Antill Street in Watson on 23 March, an ACT Policing spokesperson said.
The two occupants were transported to hospital.
The driver, an 85-year-old man from Sydney, died in hospital on Sunday (13 April).
“This brings the ACT road toll for 2025 to three persons,” the police spokesperson said.
“A report will be prepared for the coroner.”
This year’s earlier fatalities were the result of two crashes on the same day, 11 March.
A 22-year-old female motorcyclist died in the days after a crash between a bus and motorcycle in Nicholls.
There was also a collision between a bicycle and a car on Northbourne Avenue. The 70-year-old male cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
There were 11 road fatalities in the Territory in 2024. The last was recorded just days before Christmas.
