Labor are now promising to build outdoor gym gear if returned:
If re-elected in 2012 Labor will deliver new outdoor gym equipment in up to 6 locations across Canberra.

So how many barrels of oil a day are Labor going to have to extract from the oil well they’ve obviously discovered just to pay for all these promises?
Or does the tripling of rates cover it?
“up to 6 locations”, meaning it can be only 1 or 2, without them making a fib.

There is outdoor gym equipment at Mollymook Beach. My impressions:
– anything with moving parts is either broken or being used by the kids as a playground alternative (which is fine by me)
– apart from the pull up bars, the equipment is too easy to use for any serious gym goer (and non serious gym goers dont use gym equipment). You can do pull ups on the monkey bars at most playgrounds if you are so inclined, so the actual pull up bars arent that much use.
– the sit up bench breaks all current thinking about how to do core exercises.
But the kids have fun.
there is some stuff in the park near phillip college that is pretty good for doing body weight exercises
Edison Park. There are at least 4 pieces.
I remember seeing the one at mollymook and thinking I’d use that if we had it here.
bring it on.

‘This outdoor gym equipment will be co-located at ovals and parks with playgrounds, to allow mums and dads to get a workout while supervising their children.’
Bad luck, you non-breeders! You’re obviously not meant to use it.
‘This equipment will also be ideal for personal trainers and boot camps to undertake fitness activities’.
Oh yes they are!

No way it’ll happen. They can’t make it “safe”, you see. And nowadays, everything must be Safe.
