Bail has been refused for a teenager who allegedly tried to kill his own mother by repeatedly stabbing her.
The 19-year-old allegedly used a kitchen knife to stab his mother multiple times at their home in Page early on Wednesday morning (30 July).
He then reported the incident at a police station and was arrested, an ACT Policing spokesperson said.
Meanwhile, emergency services went to his home and took his mother, who had serious injuries, to hospital.
The teenager was charged with attempted murder when he briefly faced the ACT Magistrates Court over an audio-visual link on Thursday (31 July).
The duty lawyer, Ellie Wallis of Legal Aid, said he would not apply for bail.
As he did not apply, Magistrate Jane Campbell refused bail, marked him as a prisoner at risk and adjourned the matter to 22 August.
The teenager has not been named at this time to avoid identifying his mother. He did not enter a plea.
