The big bucks at the Environment and Sustainable Development Directorate [With Poll]

Three people costing $1,000,000 (with perks) and recent pay increase? Is this really money well spent at a time when the ACT Government is handing out redundancies and cutting back on services to its community?

From my brief experience, the acting Dep Director General of Planning is very good. Worth every cent.

Not sure about the others … I guess that’s why their jobs are being advertised.

According to the ESDD Organisation Chart these positions already exist. It would appear that the positions are being upgraded. The incumbents will most probably have to apply for their upgraded positions. Mastering the P & D Act that is becoming incredibly complex with DV 306 and negotiating with the development lobby would be amongst skills needed. Must also be able to motivate staff to process DAs quicker and perform well at ACAT. Will advise CPE & minister and appear at ACT LA Planning committee.
The resources could have been better spent on more compliance worker bees & DA assessors..

Looks like pretty standard pay for that level. To be honest, you’d be better off fretting about the fat rump of under-performing low level douchbags on $70-100k. That’s where the waste is.

Wow, I will have worked with some of these people back in my planning days, no way are most of these air thieves, knob jockeys and retards worth half that amount !!!!! If it wasn’t for their obviously superior networking skills, most of them would be out on the street with a blanket and a cardboard sign.

That’s retarded. There is no pressure to perform or any consequences for not performing in these roles. It’s not like they’re running a listed company or something, it’s a local shire.

The sad part is, if ACT govco could deliver projects and do their actual job, I probably wouldn’t begrudge the pay. But they don’t, so I do.
