Good fun if you’re into this stuff.

Yes, for those that dont remember, or in the case of Mr Gillespie who seems to generally despise the female of the species, Katie was 12 when she attended the controlled demolition of the Canberra Hospital on what is now the site of the National Museum. It went horribly wrong and debris was flung as far as 650m from the site, injuring 9 and taking Katie’s life.
Don’t expect an open invitation to anything like this for many years to come.
What a shame. And it’s all because of this one Katie Bender, aged 12.
Shit happens.
And now we are denied invitations to future demolitions for God knows how many decades to come.
Sad.
Clearing trolling.
Move on, nothing to see here

You better be joking.
Do you really want to be around when a dodgy demo “expert” rigs things wrong and ends up flinging hundred kilo blocks of steel and concrete 2/3 of a kilometre away?
And for what it’s worth, having now looked at the video, I reckon that was a very professional piece of work. Moderate charges, expertly placed and perfectly timed resulting in things falling down with minimum fuss.
Call me crazy, but I reckon it’s really satisfying to see such an elegant and artistic application of explosives. Hats off to Tablelands Explosives.
And a wet fart for the clowns who were responsible for the hospital shambles.

It’s not up to Katie Bender to dictate secret demolitions upon the ACT!
Huh? What on earth could that possibly mean? Do you have *any* idea what you’re on about?
Anyway, I have considerable experience with explosives and explosions. They’re serious business, definitely not a spectator sport. I remember my disbelief at the leadup to the hospital demolition cockup. “Make this a fun, family day out etc…”. I thought it would end in tears, and sadly it did.
If at all possible, stay clear of demo jobs, and just watch the entertaining footage from remotely operated cameras.
And also, might I remind you Screaming Banshee, this has got nothing to do with how you reckon that I “despise the female of the species”.
What on Earth possessed you to bring that idea into it? Are you a complete tool???

Lucky buggers, getting up at the crack of dawn to get this exclusive footage while this secret operation took place. The cameramen who filmed these clips must be special friends with the TAMS employees, had a secret deal going. Why did it take them till now to finally release it?
