New home for the Zebras after they are fixed up:
OUTSIDE THE ARTS CENTRE IN BELCONNEN!
They are a lot more interesting than yellow pole thingees we have right now.
Shame the vandals didnt have a bit more grey matter up top. I reckon a model lion stalking them would have been much more fun….

Lake George is hardly prime grazing land. They DID get permission ‘after they were ordered to be removed’, and the vandalism occurred because people are idiots.
I don’t imagine that the landholder would have had that much of an issue with the Zebras themselves. His/her issues would have more to do with all the gormless townies climbing over the fences, wandering all over the paddocks and possibly worrying the stock.
It’s a paddock. The owner doesn’t live on it. What difference do a couple more ungulate-herbivore shaped things make to it?
And yes, in this instance, it was a law worth breaking.
The same as street art (Banksy etc.). It’s not hurting anyone, it brings joy to people, the only people who mind are joyless anyway.
Um, I thought th issue was that they had not received planning permission, not that they were trespassing.

Tell me about it! Did you see the number or people stopping at that rest area to look at them? Shocking. And the smiles on the kids faces? Were they worth it? You’ve got to ask yourself… was that small amount of joy on the boring Hume Hwy, the extra hundreds of people breaking up their journey to see something creative, lighthearted and good-humoured, was all that really worth pulling a “stunt” like putting a couple of fake zebras on someone’s privately leased paddock?
Fifty bucks cash on the table says if they had been plonked in your privately leased or owned property, whether it’s your garden or your lounge room, without being asked first, you’d be a little less ridiculous in your comments.
I like the word “Stunt” in this context. As if the zebras were swinging from a ceiling and landed on a pop star or maybe chasing Tony Abbott around in speedos.
Tresspass is an offence. If they had sought permission then no problems. So you condone people breaking the law as long as there is a “good” outcome?

While I absolutely abhor vandalism I am happy to see them go seeing they were plaved on privately leased land without the landholders permission.
