ACT Policing conducted two search warrants this month (November 2013), recovering $180,000 worth of construction equipment.
In October this year, ACT Policing Criminal Investigations commenced investigations into the theft of construction equipment, in particular, numerous thefts of bobcats.
Since November 2012, similar thefts have amounted to an estimated $500,000.
On 1 November, members from Criminal Investigations attended an address in Sutton, NSW and recovered an estimated $120,000 of stolen construction equipment.
On 7 November, investigators attended another address and recovered a confirmed stolen bobcat valued at $60,000.
Investigations are ongoing.
ACT Policing is urging builders to be vigilant and secure construction sites. If you witness suspicious persons loitering around construction sites, contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via www.act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.
