No problem — I uploaded it to illustrate a point. Yes I was around during the Carnell era — but that’s ancient history. It’s not 1997 anymore — it’s 2010. Build a bridge and get over it (instead of blowing them up all the time, pardon the pun hehe).

There were announcements on the radio (all Canberra stations I believe) and in the newspaper days prior to the event, have you been living under a rock? Perhaps you would of preferred a govt representitive to personally visit every single household in Canberra – may as well make it every workplace as well just incase people aren’t home – and inform everyone of the planned bridgeworks?

BD84, it’s the ACT Government’s smartarse, dickhead way of showing us in no uncertain terms that they think they are better than us and have the upper hand on us by denying us the right to merely WATCH the spectacular even if it is from a safe distance of in excess of the 1km exclusion zone. For having my point of view and protesting it, I have been described as “endlessly disturbing”, which is pretty sad (unless, of course, it’s just Johnboy’s strange sense of humour speaking).

Pretty cool. Although why they decided to do it at 6.30am is a bit puzzling as I would imagine the sound would travel quite a way at that time.. A way to stop hoards of people showing up to watch maybe?
