Albert Hall hosts a magical performance of Hansel & Gretel by the National Opera, telling the enchanting story of two children lured by the promise of treats to the lair of a villainous witch.
Christmas is ramping up in earnest this week, and there are plenty of events to get in the holiday spirit, from special markets at the Harmonie German Club to Celtic performances at the Canberra Theatre and carols in the heart of town.
Basketball is having a moment in Canberra this week: the UC Capitals take on the Melbourne Flyers on Friday, and on Wednesday, AIS Arena hosts the Sydney Kings and the Adelaide 36ers in the NBL.
