Written over five years and sporadically recorded in six months at various locations across Melbourne, Tom Woodward’s third solo album, Canoelands, is out now as a ”pay as you want” online download. The ten joyously sad songs of Canoelands were arranged and worked over by Woodward’s good friend and fellow ex-Canberran, Yen Nguyen (Mechanical Pterodactyl, Casual Projects). Recorded live, the guitar and vocal parts were taken by Nguyen who then layered them with sensitive instrumentation played by philanthropic musicians. The album features Emma Kelly (Mister Fibby), Munro Melano (Casual Projects) and Tiana Morrison (The Orphanage). It was recorded on a budget of $0 and is being marketed for the same amount. A limited edition of 100 hard copies will be available at two special launch shows in Melbourne and Canberra: At The Empress, North Fitzroy, on April 1st with Support from Mike Noga (The Drones, The Gentlemen Of Fortune) & Jordie Lane. $10. Then April 3rd, at the Phoenix Bar, 8:30pm, supporting the SunPilots. Download Canoelands at: http://tomwoodward.bandcamp.com
