town planning -v- road planning

Walking along Gunghalin Drive today checking out the new subdivision that they seem to be in a real hurry to get going. hundreds of workers and as many big big trucks as I’ve ever seen in one place. You cyclists will want to hold you breath riding by as the black stuff coming out of those giant backhoe things is horrendous. Pedal down Northbourne … its cleaner air. I diverse as I wanted to mention – and check with Gunghalin Al – they ARE building a new intersection half way between traffic lights at Mitchell’s Well Station and Kosiosko at Palmerston. That just does not seem right; but then again, the hopless proof of town planning is Gunghalin – by StanhopeCorbellHargreaves.

I hear that there will be a few experienced town planners looking for work in the Illawarra / Capital country region. Given the chronic skills shortage in this field ACTPLA should snap them up… Would make getting development approval much more exciting.

I don’t think they are putting an intersection in there. I think they are digging a trench for storm and waste water pipes to be layed. They’ve only just upgraded the intersection at Wells Station Dr, so I think that’ll be used as the the way in/out of the new suburbs.
