Who TF would remove a steering column? What would they do with it?

Seems fuel is also a favourite target. I made the mistake of not locking my car one night last week. Jumping in the car the next day to go to work and I’m greeted with an open fuel door, loose fuel cap and my car over a quarter of a tank of fuel lighter.

Although I strongly suspect my dodgy neighbour on his compo sponsored permanent holiday and his jerry can sitting on his front varandah might have had a hand in it. Its certainly not the first time I’ve had suspicions on fuel thievery.

If you ever go to trash an old car fill it up with sugar water first .. leave it a few weeks 😛

I called Crimestoppers and by the time a cruiser arrived they had already picked them up, and were gathering evidence. Little pharque-tards were robbing the car of an elderly, physically impaired lady, so I’m really hoping these punks were the ones responsible for all these other break-ins and boys (and girls) in blue have enough to throw the book at them.

Where else are you going to take it? There is nothing at home that I need ID or cash for, so why would I need my wallet? However, if I do bring my wallet inside, its not impossible to head out without remembering to grab it. Id rather leave it there than forget about it when I need it.

Sounds like a good time to set up some bait cars in the ACT. Except that even caught red-handed in a stolen car, our judiciary would probably tell them not to do it again, and give a 3 month good-behaviour bond. Unless the offence was committed while on bail, in which case its a 12 month good-behaviour bond.

why not use simple plain english?

also, all valuables should be removed from cars no matter where they are and what time of day it is.
