UFC is tip top! I would suggest bittorrent. The older ones are great for a bit of Tito Ortiz action. And who can go past ‘brick hands’ Chuck Liddell!?!?! Gold!!!!
BTW I assure you I am not a booner 😉

Whenever I’ve happened to see any UFC on the TV it’s always involved 2 guys rolling around on the floor with their legs wrapped around each other. Very skillful!!
Sounds suspiciously like gay porn to me.

If you like the early stuff, I bought the first 30 UFC’s in a DVD box set on ebay for about $80 – bargain!
JEALOUS!
The best way to see some UFC is via Main Event on Foxtel, Bittorrent :-), or buy the DVD’s.
If you like the early stuff, I bought the first 30 UFC’s in a DVD box set on ebay for about $80 – bargain! The problem with the intense brutality in the early days was that it was banned almost everywhere, and the fights were pretty uneven an boring most of the time. But there is no denying the sheer entertainment value of it 🙂
I really like the new UFC format. It promotes a good mix of ground fighting and stand up.
And now they are at least getting paid good money, so more quality fighters are part of the sport.
UFC is great and there should be more of it. I would love to see an event in Canberra, I know they do it in Sydney a fair bit.
Dunno about the criticisms of it being more barbaric in the early days, I think it was better. They Ultimate Fighting Championship was set up to see who the best fighter out of all the copdes was, so you would get stuff likt Kickboxing vs Sumo, AWESEOME!!! I saw a sumo wrestler get his teeth kicked out by a kickboxer in the first one. Basically you could see who was the best fighter because there was no rules to get in between the two of them, just like a real fight!!!
Now it’s a bit more disciplined and yeah no headbutts, I think the only rule in the old days was no groin strikes and that was it. Still an awesome sport though.
I think you can get some DVD’s at Landspeed, they’re ususally pretty up to date with it.
I love it how all the bigots on here hate on bogans, you’d sh*t yourselves if you were confronted by one!!!

Yes it’s called Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Why don’t you try fighting a practitioner. I’d love to see what a human pretzel looks like.

Its called Brazillian Jiu Jitzu you ignoramus and it can by quite enthralling if you know what you’re looking at. If you want 100% stand-up action then go and watch some boxing/kickboxing.
You might be surprised how much skill is involved in that rolling around on the floor. A heck of a lot of tactics, leverage and weight transferral is involved.

Me too. Boring! And chicken wire. Great.
Any friday/saturday night at moosheads etc you will get live UFC with rent-a-cops, glass, women(use that term loosely), cops and barmen all rolled into one

ED: UFC would be Ultimate Fighting Championship. Basically it involves two lads beating the snot out of each other with a much less restrictive rule set than say boxing or wrestling.
It is also called Mixed Martial Arts or Cage Fighting. Believe it or not, it is actually banned in Victoria (must have been the same do-gooders who banned circuses and rodeos in the ACT).
Your best bet would be to ring around the clubs but I wouldn’t get your hopes up. I’ll be shelling out the $40 to watch it at home.
If you don’t have any luck, go to MMAlinker.com shortly after the event and watch the fights (in low quality) before they get taken down by the monopolistic UFC. To their credit however, the UFC does provide free replays of the untelevised fights from the card.
And don’t let any ignorant fools try and tell you this SPORT is comprised of two thugs bludgeoning each other for a $200 paycheck. I have watched over 1000 MMA fights and seen only one broken jaw. It is more skillful and far less barbaric than say boxing or kickboxing. Unfortunately amongst the ignorant, MMA still carries the violent stigma earned during the early years (1993-96) when combatants were bare-kunckled and headbutting was permitted.
JB UFC = Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Not sure who screens PPVs – if anyone, although your local will have the Fox free to air unleashed and TUF screenings.
While I am personally against the practice, I have heard that a lot of people tend to download PPVs off the internet due the lack of local availability.
