ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to an aggravated robbery in Red Hill last night (Sunday, 27 March).
Around 7.10pm three young males parked their car in a carpark near Lady Nelson Place in Red Hill. Two males approached the vehicle, one of which claimed to be an Australian Federal Police officer. The offenders demanded the driver’s licence and registration papers and requested that the occupants of the vehicle drive them places to collect cash.
When the victims refused, one of the offenders threatened the driver of the vehicle with what appeared to be a revolver. The offenders demanded the car but were refused. The victims handed over $30 in cash to the offenders who then got into a grey Ford Festiva and left the area.
The first male offender was described as mid-20s, of Middle Eastern appearance with short black spiked hair and acne scarring. He was wearing a gold chain, numerous gold rings and a white T-shirt with a black pattern. He was carrying a dark-coloured ‘bum-bag’ and a laptop bag. The male had a possible speech impediment.
The second male offender was described as being in his 20s, Caucasian, solid build, tall, with short hair. He was wearing a cap, white shorts and a dark blue T-shirt.
Police ask anyone who was in the area at that time and may have seen people matching the description to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers website on www.act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.
