Au Lac and Kingsland in Dickson have brilliant food. Au lac steamboat is something else and everything ridiculously cheap. New paneer wrap at Ruchi Belconnen a few weeks back was very good indeed. We eat meat/poultry but organic/biodynamic only. Regular stuff is gross!
if you are serious about reducing methane emissions, then eat more veal! (oh, and kangaroo, of course…)
and i can’t second the call to go to ‘au lac’ – i found it grossly salty and couldn’t fathom why anyone imagines faux meat will appeal to vegetarians!
bring back bernadette’s, i say!
Just splash out on a cabbage or something and save some money.
You can make your own paneer, it’s dead easy. and a good way to use up milk that’s thinking about going off. Just boil it up in a saucepan, and when it boils, put in a teaspoon or so of lemon juice (vinegar works too) and take it off the heat and let it cool. Then pour the lot through some fine gauze in a strainer, tie it up like a bag and suspend it overnight (I hang it from the tap). Paneer.
Mali Kofta- That’s the paneer cashew dish I couldn’t remember! Oh so good.
Try the “Meat Palace” in Weedon Close. Plenty of vegetarian alternatives in this restaurant.

Did you know: cars are not cattle, and you don’t have to worry about methane from cars. So let’s eat cars!
Something more relevant: to each their own. Just because someone’s doing something you’re not (or don’t want to), who gives a damn?
(Standard disclaimer: I’m vegetarian. By choice. And I don’t really give a shit what you do)
or, lets slaughter all the cows, pigs, sheep, kangaroos and cook em up into the biggest bbq in the world!
no more methane from animals = no global impact…

I bet you did not know that the majority of methane emitted by cows is through belching and not flatus.
Your googling it now aren’t you.

and the more cows you let live, the more methane production?
Yes, from them as well.

You do realise methane is a much more potent global warming gas than CO2?

aurelius, i’m sure there is some sort of food you don’t wish to eat because you don’t like the taste or texture, so you don’t eat it by choice. this is why i don’t eat meat or fish.
although there are several other equally legitimate reasons such as that proffered by jennybel or having an allergy (eg to shellfish) or a belief (religious or animal rights) system that excludes meat or fish. so to state the obvious, just because people are different to you doesn’t mean they should die on a mountainside.
eggplant and tomato sauce pasta bake for me tonight. not a trace of meat, even using vege stock.
breaks up the monotony of chicken, chicken, mince, mince. Steak is very rare…
I eat vegetarian at least twice a week because reducing your meat intake is one of the most effective personal strategies for slowing global warming. I like my meat but I can’t justify eating it all week.
I eat vegetarian fare because, like carnivorous fare, its tasty.
Aurelius, grow a set yourself and step out of your comfort zone.
Jennybel,
Such people are disfunctional humans then and, according to the laws of Darwinism, should be left to die on a mountainside or something.
Tell them to grow some balls and eat some meat!
You know Aurelius there are some people out there who lack the enzyme protease which is needed to break down protein. So, maybe these folks can’t eat meat rather than won’t.
Back on topic – Sanur’s Balinese in the new development along the lake might be worth a look.
Could run the gauntlet and make your own cheese naan and some kick arse Dahl with fresh ginger and coriander…..At least thats whats goin on at the Danman Curry Emporium tonight whilst Mrs Danman is @ work.
I recommend Ruchi Indian resturant in Oatley Ct. Mushroom Mancurian and the vego Dosai are great. Also if you do want to get out of belco check out Satis at the Watson shops for good vego fair.
Do yourself a favour and go to Au Lac in Dickson (not Belco I know but it’s seriously worth it) It’s vegan and divine.
If it has to be Belco then try Taj Agra- they have about 15 veggie dishes and I especially recommend the paneer in cashew sauce (can’t think of the full Indian name)
Indian’s generally do really good vegetarian- no misunderstandings over what’s in fish sauce or stocks.
