ACT Policing has apprehended a man after a pursuit of a stolen motor vehicle yesterday afternoon (Friday, February 10).
The vehicle was stolen from St Anthony’s Primary School Wanniassa and while phoning police to report it stolen, the owner noticed his vehicle drive past him and followed the car along Athllon Drive into Woden.
About 1.55pm police patrols located the vehicle in Yamba Drive and attempted a traffic stop.
After the stolen vehicle failed to stop, police pursued the vehicle along Kitchener Street, Hughes proceeding through the Canberra Hospital campus, along Hindmarsh Drive and into Red Hill.
The stolen vehicle turned onto a loop street and was stopped by police and the driver was apprehended soon after.
No people were injured or vehicles damaged during the pursuit that lasted three minutes and reached a maximum speed of 110kph in an 80 kph zone.
The man will appear before the ACT Magistrates Court today (Saturday, February 11) where police will oppose bail.
