Charges have been laid after multiple videos were uploaded to a public social media account allegedly showing a motorbike rider speeding and driving dangerously across Canberra.

The videos were allegedly posted to an Instagram account that had almost 15,500 followers by Friday (21 November).

The account’s description is “all vids on this page are intended for comedic purposes, do not imitate”.

One video apparently shows someone sending footage to NSW Police’s Instagram account while asking, “How did I do?”

The police responded that they would be looking into the matter.

Another video with the caption “Lil 10k celebration” shows a person spraying champagne over a motorbike.

An ACT Policing spokesperson said earlier this year that officers became aware of a social media account that allegedly showed a motorcyclist repeatedly speeding and riding dangerously.

The rider was allegedly identified speeding at more than 200 km/h in an 80 km/h zone and 185 km/h in a 60 km/h zone.

Police raided a home in Barton on Wednesday (19 November) where they seized a Suzuki GSXR motorcycle, a mobile phone and a video camera.

A 21-year-old man was then charged with two counts of dangerous driving, but police said investigations were continuing and further charges may be laid.

The Detective Superintendent of Road and Proactive Policing, Alex Nicolson, said ACT Policing had zero tolerance towards motorists speeding.

“Driving on our roads is a privilege, not a right, and comes with a responsibility to other road users,” he said.

“If you breach that responsibility by driving or riding dangerously, then you can expect we will use all means available to address that behaviour.

“We know how vulnerable motorcyclists are on our roads, with five of the 11 road fatalities last year being motorcyclists.”

If you can assist police with this matter, contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Quote 8143677.

The 21-year-old man will face the ACT Magistrates Court on 17 January 2026.
