Weddings outdoors

My beautiful man wants to marry me and he would like a outdoor wedding . I thnk he is looking at a spot down the south coast on a headland or somewhere here in Canberra. If you do have an outdoor wedding do you need to seek approval from councils etc etc and if so, whats the process?

Lanyon homestead. just don’t do it in February. We did. 38 degrees is not fun.

Not if it’s in your back yard you don’t.

Go for a winter wedding. Less guests sweltering in their ‘Sunday’ clothes, the white and bubbly stay cool and the red is just right.

So has anyone got any horror stories about weddings or their own wedding?
I cant have a spring wedding because I am allergic to everything and Zyrtec’s are crap. lol

My brother had his wedding in the bottanical gardens a few years ago, I think it was free but we paid for use of the small visitors centre thing they had to serve food and drinks from, don’t think the cost for that was very much though compared to what you would normally pay for a wedding, I’ll try and find out exactly who he organised it through but I imagine Canberra Connect would be the best way to go.

Botanical Gardens (ANBG) in Canberra was nice, where we had ours, but you cannot take any artificial throwing decorations (is there a word for that?) such as confetti, throw downs, rice etc. They get VERY busy around October and will cost you a couple of hundred $. You can only walk to whichever spot you opt for (if chosing ANBG), unless there are elderly, and they get a ride on a buggy. I think the amphitheatre where we had ours, has power?!?!?

I went to a wedding at Potato Point; it was awesome. After the reception we all went swimming.

There are lots of free fabulous wedding venues in Canberra. The National Capital Authority administers most of them, except for the gardens at Parliament House (Contact Department of Parliamentary Services.) What time of year do you have in mind?
