Remember the magistrates are well underpaid so why should they hand out tough sentences or fines, especially to a repeat offender. Maybe the magistrates should be paid on commission, the tougher the penalty handed out, the higher their pay/bonus for that week.

Luckily, the focus has lately been on mobile phone using drivers, which have accounted for so many deaths in the ACT, I think the figure is……um…wait, it’ll come to me……it’s um……hang on a sec….almost there……on the tip of my tongue……um….none!

As a recidivist offender, he should not have a licence (not that a disqualified licence stops people from driving). Once the poor, underpaid magistrates start handing out custodial sentences for recidivist drink drivers, rates of recidivism might begin to go down.

Unfortunately, they normally have to cause a massive accident with casualties before they get locked up.
