Hi Rioters,
Does anyone know what has happened to the Little Brussels Belgian Beer Cafe in Kingston? I walked past it earlier today and noticed a sign up saying it was closed until further notice.

I think their unpaid bills finally caught up to them… At least that’s what I heard on the Canberra hospitality grapevine!
Apparently the rise of Australian craft beer and a changing beer market are partially responsible for the closure.

The Belgian Beer Cafe moved because the rent went up?
Moved? I’m not sure about that. All the furniture is stacked up inside still. It’s almost as if they’ve gone away on holidays. It is a bit odd.
I never really liked the place. I always found the food below average and while acknowledging it’s a place that specialises in beers I did think it was pretty funny when I asked for a gin and tonic one day and was met with the reply: “How do you make that?”
Whatever happens, I won’t miss it.
The Belgian Beer Cafe moved because the rent went up? Oh, the irony.
Buying a round for your mates at that place required taking out a second mortgage…
I heard they jacked the rent up. Kingston cafes & restaurants need to be careful or everyone will move to the Lake front.
Wow! Didn’t know that it had closed. Their seats were so damn uncomfortable though – I always felt like I needed to see a chiropractor after coming out of there…
Sounds like we need a post – where to get 1kg pots of mussels for $20 in CBR now?!
