Over on The Roar they’re asking why Canberra’s rugby league players so often turn out to be, well they call them bad boys.
Thoughts readers?

Me thinks the lad needs to ditch all his social media accounts and sign with North Queensland.
Then, in maybe 30 years time (because of the FNQ sun), he’ll have thick enough skin to not give a f#$^ about what other people think/say about him. And he can then hop back onto the social media thingy without making a complete tool of himself because he thinks he’s important.
Looks like 35k a year job beckons for Mr Dugan.
Way to stuff a promising chance in life.

After reading that drivel, no wonder no club wants anything to do with him.

The issue is not that the raiders have more than enough “bad boys”, but that the raiders management have spent far too much time covering up for the players off field criminal activities. This goes back to before Todd Carney joined club, but certainly peaked with his off field activities becoming so disgraceful that the raiders were unable to keep them out of the media. Josh Dugan is just another of the players that the raiders management believed were so important that they had to cover for them, instead of making them take responsibility for their actions.

The Raiders don’t have more “bad boys” than other teams. The Raiders management has the balls to get rid of the few d***heads that play for them. The actions of a player like Greg Bird, who smashed a glass into his girlfriend’s face, are far worse. Jake Friend from the Roosrers has been in more fights than he has played football games. But those clubs are willing to support the dregs of society for the purpose of winning football games.
+1
While not a fan of the Raiders, umm, fans, I think the Raiders have approached player management in the right way.
Where is 2604 when you need them so they can see I posted something absolutely positive about the Raiders?

You forgot to mention the valium found in Jake Friend’s possession and the prescription pads stolen from a doctor in the eastern suburbs. When he was sprung he told Fairfax that he used the valium as a pain reliever after having extensive tattoo work done.
