July and August are not Canberra’s traditional truffle months.
Many restaurants around town will be running truffle menus.

There is a Truffle Festival brochure kicking around that has a bunch of the events for the season in it.

Did a truffle hunt last year at Blue Frog Farm. Worth doing. Pretty amazing to watch a great working dog going at it, under the instruction of a woman who trains truffle dogs.
I’ll second Senso at the Fyshwick Markets. Last year (I think, maybe it was the year before) we went to one of their truffle evenings. It wasn’t a sit down dinner, but Jan cooked a bunch of dishes with truffles in different ways, which you then got to eat with a glass or two of wine. No idea how much it was, but I remember it being worth it.
That sort of thing is particularly useful as truffle isn’t really a strong flavour, so if your first encounter is in a dish in a restaurant without a bit of context you can be left wondering what you’re missing.
I’m pretty sure they also do sit-down dinners at Senso, but the educational component was well worth the experience.
Alas, Anise is no more.
Pulp Kitchen in Ainslie did a superb (and well priced) truffle degustation with matching wines last year – I’d certainly recommend it if they do it again. I’d also recommend Senso at the Fyshwick Markets – Jan certainly knows a thing or two about food.
Last years menu at Anise in West Row was quite nice. Will have to head there again this year to try.
