Apart from making your own, does anyone know any cafe/restaurant/caravan that sells them?
The G-Spot no longer exists (the only place I knew that did sell them).

OK, Just tried the ones at the Fish Shack…
AMAZING!!!
Best Deep Fried Mars Bar I’ve had yet!
Well, when I read this i quickly suited up and ducked around to the G-spot, I had not had a deep fried mars bar for quite a few years, and was glad to know they are here (and quite close to my place, dear god I’m gonna get fat, aren’t I?)
Anyway, quite happy with the ones from the G-Spot, a little heavy with the pastry at the seam, but still great (though for anyone who has previously only had the ‘bite sized’ ones, be warned, it’s a full sized mars bar, so don’t order 7!!!)
Trying out Fish shack today at lunch, very excited (Had there basket for breakfast, that was good!!!)

The deep fried mars bars from the g-spot in gungahlin closely resemble a sausage roll at first glance. It’s got layers of flaky pastry surrounding a hot mars bar, and its dusted with icing sugar. It’s pretty good but I’m not sure that it’s actually deep fried….??
When I tried my first G-spot mars bar creation I was surprised on two counts: firstly by the pastry shell, and secondly because I honked into it without realising the core would be pure molten lava. Despite this I have to admit that it was a pretty tasty treat!

However Steve and his awesome team at the Fish shack in Civic rock the deep fried mars bars!! ^-^ Light crunchy batter surrounding a gooey melted mars bar, served with cream and ice cream… It is delightful!! 🙂 Much ? to these guys and their tasty food 🙂
P.S. you should try the sweet potato wedges while you’re there, they’re kind of amazing 😉
That mars bar and icecream sounds delish! (Although given their name I have higher expectations of their fish dishes, which are pretty average in my experience.)
Apart from the deep-fried Mars Bar … have you ever tried the “Pizza Crunch” in Glasgow … take one slice of frozen pizza, dip in batter, deept fry… is it any wonder they have the highest rate of coronary disease

The Fish Shack in Civic do them. They’re good, in an artery hardening kind of way….
Just checking out their menu for dinner tonight; they do deep fried Snickers too. I don’t care too much for Mars, but love a good Snickers, so might have to try one of those.

let us not forget IRN Bru!
Can you still find that stuff in Canberra? it’s my favorite soft-drink but only Woolworth used to have it and I haven’t seen it there in ages, I think they must have dropped it.
Woolies in Woden Plaza have it, not in the drinks section though. its up the back of one of the isles near the fresh juice (with all the other British goodies)

Deep fried mars bars are amongst the most disgusting foods in the world.
I’m sorry, my school used to feed us disgusting food such as calf brain and tongue on a regular basis for lunch, and I can say without hesitation that deep fried mars bars would have been immensely welcome in the place of that awful offal.
I would gladly have brains and tongue over a mars bar any day.

I’m surprised the Burns Club doesn’t feature them, given the origin of the delicacy.
I’d say the Burns club is more interested in the kilts & bagpipes aspect of Scottish culture rather than the more current expression of scottishness involving welfare dependency, smack, glassings and deep fried mars bars.
I’m surprised the Burns Club doesn’t feature them, given the origin of the delicacy.
Had no idea they were here. I only ever saw them advertised in Glasgow fish n chip shops.

Chapman takeway at the shops does, my overweight neighbours always get them, I don’t see the appeal but then again I have never had one, rather not have a tub of lard sitting in my stomach all day.
Palmerston takeaway hasn’t made them in years. The G spot van is still in the car park at the golf club, so I’m assuming it’s still operating.

The G-Spot is open, it’s just that men have a hard trouble finding it and won’t stop to ask for directions…
+1 Lyneham Shops takeaway, again many years ago, but I recall a sign saying that they would pretty much batter and deep fry whatever you wanted.
A friend and I travelled at lunchtime from Barton to the fabled establishment to sample their wares. We didnt bother to return once our hearts started beating again.
if you bring your own Mars down to Flatheads and offer the boss a couple buck they might do it for you.
Try Palmerston shops, they are apparently the ones that started making them in Canberra…
What do you particularly like about deep-fried Mars Bars, OP? I am asking quite seriously.
The Fish Shack in Civic do them. They’re good, in an artery hardening kind of way….
@BobGrrl: that is now a turkish pide / kebab shop. I don’t think Mamas (the name of said takeaway) has been open for 7 years or so!
No way Mamas would have made it through the recent health blitz, funny just thinking about it
Many years ago I recall having one at the fish and chip shop at the Lyneham shops. Many many years ago though.
