Bail has been granted for a woman accused of repeatedly assaulting a security guard, including biting him, when she was denied entry into a Civic bar.

In the early hours of Friday morning (8 August), a woman was repeatedly denied entry to the ONE22 bar on Alinga Street before she allegedly became aggressive and spat on a male security guard, an ACT Policing spokesperson said.

Shortly afterwards, she allegedly returned and pushed a heater unit at the front entrance of the bar, which fell onto the guard.

When the guard tried to restrain her, she allegedly bit him on the arm.

The police spokesperson said she was ultimately restrained before police arrived and arrested her.

The woman alleged to be behind the incident, a 36-year-old from Farrer whom Region has chosen not to name for now, faced the ACT Magistrates Court later on Friday.

She was charged with two counts of assault and one count of re-entering the vicinity of the premises.

The court heard prosecutors did not oppose bail and the security guard had no concerns for his safety if she was released.

Magistrate Amy Begley granted bail on the condition that she not contact the guard or approach ONE22.

The matter will return to court on 1 September. No pleas were entered.
