Woman burned in Lyneham house fire

ACT Fire & Rescue have extinguished a residential fire in a two story residence on Owens Street, Lyneham.

The fire was extinguished at 16:30 this afternoon after ACT Emergency Services were alerted to the blaze via multiple Emergency Triple Zero (000) calls.

The fire is believed to have started on the lower floor. Smoke damage has been received to the upper floor of the residence. The damage bill is estimated to be in excess of $100 000.

One female patient has been transported to The Canberra Hospital by the ACT Ambulance Service with burns to 20% of her body and is being treated for smoke inhalation.

3 Fire pumpers, 1 Breathing Apparatus support vehicle, 1 Aerial support (Bronto) and 1 command vehicle responded to the incident.

Crews are still on scene conducting mop up operations and investigation into the cause of the fire has commenced.
