A woman’s licence has been immediately suspended after she allegedly returned a breath alcohol test of more than six times the legal limit.
An ACT Policing spokesperson said that at about 8:40 am on Friday (1 August), a silver Mazda 3 was allegedly driving erratically northbound on the Monaro Highway.
It would then allegedly collide with a black ute on the off-ramp near Canberra Avenue in Narrabundah.
Police attended the scene, where they say the Mazda 3’s driver, a 40-year-old Fadden woman, returned a positive breath screening test.
She was taken into custody, and later returned an alleged breath analysis result of 0.331.
Detective Sergeant Dave Lawler said ACT Police would be targeting impaired driving this month, and the allegations were disappointing.
“We are only eight hours into our impaired driving focus for August, so it is really discouraging to see this level of drink driving occur,” he said on Friday.
“I want to remind everyone that it is never okay to drink and drive – any time of the day or night.”
The woman was issued an immediate license suspension notice. She will appear in the ACT Magistrates Court at a later date.
Police are seeking any witnesses or dash cam footage of the silver Mazda prior to the alleged collision.
