The Canberra Times high command of Ken Nichols and Rod Quinn are calming the horses:

The results of a review of Fairfax’s metropolitan newsrooms – including The Canberra Times, The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age – will be released for staff discussion next week. The work will further strengthen The Canberra Times by giving it access to even more quality, independent journalism.

The review has involved consultation with hundreds of journalists in five cities, including Canberra, and will help us to better serve our growing digital audiences as they consume our news and other content throughout the day.

Gosh how exciting the future is!

I did like the little flirt with transparency telling us they’re clocking a million unique visitors a month. How many page views they generate would be useful to meaningful analysis. But at least we’re all talking Analytics numbers now and not the newspaper business’s historical smoke and mirrors.

(for the record our solo journalist (soon to be two) output gets us around 150,000 uniques a month reading a bit over a million page views each month.)
