Youths allegedly gang-bash man in Civic

Police are seeking the public’s help after a man was allegedly gang-bashed by youths in Civic on the weekend.

A 44-year-old man from NSW was allegedly assaulted by a group of young people at about 11:20 pm on Saturday (24 May), an ACT Policing spokesperson said.

The bashing allegedly took place in Petrie Plaza near the merry-go-round.

Police officers arrived at the scene, and while the group of youths left the area, police soon arrested two 16-year-old boys over their alleged involvement.

It is believed that at least four people were involved.

So far, police have identified three teenagers over their alleged involvement and expect they will be charged with affray and assault.

“Investigators are seeking information relating to the incident, including assistance with identifying anyone who participated in the alleged assault or witnesses who have not yet spoken to police,” the police spokesperson said.
