Seven drink-drivers were caught by ACT Policing during a three and a half hour targeted operation in Belconnen this morning (Thursday, November 17).
Between 1am to 4.30am, Belconnen Patrol members conducted 60 random breath tests at Emu Bank. The highest reading recorded was from a suspended driver, who returned a positive Alcohol Content (AC) reading of 0.149.
Four of the drivers were issued with immediate suspension notices, including a 26-year-old Braddon man who had previously been disqualified from driving until February 2014. He returned an Alcohol Content (AC) reading of 0.130, and was taken to the ACT Watch House where he will be charged with drink-driving and driving while disqualified.
Last week (November 7-16), ACT Policing caught 30 drink-drivers throughout Canberra, eight of whom had a zero restriction on their licence. This included a 26-year-old Evatt man who returned an Alcohol Content (AC) reading of 0.187, and a 36-year-old Fraser man who was caught drink-driving twice in the one night.
ACT Policing will continue to target drink-driving until the end of the year.
