In good news for me the Bureau of Statistics has declared the average ACT woman to be right in the ballpark.
And we’re young too! Happy days!

Judging by comments on another matter on the RA, one could think that the average Canberran is an unemployed single mother.
Excellent – now Canberra girls will know to move to NT to find a husband.

Hey JB, didn’t you just turn 40? If your target audience is in the early (or even mid) thirties age bracket then my hat is off to you. What’s your secret? 🙂
Wishful thinking and still wanting to try having children.
Aww, nice. I think I just fell in love with you, JB.

‘The ballpark’ seems such a lovely term to use, too, in the context of your comment.
As a good friend use to say.
If the infield is mowed ….. Play Ball 🙂

They don’t all stay married forever
Also 34 year-old women are about 10 years too old.
Cr*p. Alas, I don’t have a link, but I read that a study a few years ago showed that Australian men’s ideal woman averaged out at 38 years old … no surprise there, actually.
That’s just rationalisation behaviour (i.e. people taking what they can get and attempting to justify it to themselves on the basis that, in fact, this is what they wanted all along).

The woman should be half the man’s age plus 7 years.
Think you’ll find that’s just the lower bound on the Standard Creepiness Rule.
This rule confuses creepiness with awesomeness. Half the age plus seven is the upper bound on the awesomeness rule. Anything more is just mediocrity.

I wonder if Tasmania and South Australia notice their high average ages? Canberra has been largely spared the ageing population challenge impacting states like South Australia, but should we be paying more attention?

Are you sure? You may have to stop going to the movies, after all!

Ah well, in that case good on you. I hope the wishful thinking is realised, you find the right woman and it all turns out OK for you. My kids are the best thing that ever happened to me, and I’d wish a similar blessing on anybody who desires it.
