ACT Policing has arrested a 28-year-old Gordon man after a pursuit yesterday afternoon (April 16).
Around 4.15pm police were conducting a patrol in the Griffith area, when they saw a white Toyota Corolla accelerate heavily and then pass the police vehicle.
The officers followed the Toyota for a short distance before attempting a traffic stop on the vehicle.
The Toyota then fled from police along a number of Griffith streets before the pursuit was terminated.
Around 4.50pm the same officer involved in the incident located a man walking along Captain Cook Crescent. The man was identified as being the driver of the Toyota, which was located a short distance away.
Further enquiries by the officers revealed the Toyota had been reported stolen.
The man was arrested and conveyed to the ACT Watch House and was charged with a number of traffic offences.
He will appear before the ACT Magistrates Court this morning when police will oppose bail.
