All weekend is the Canberra District Wine Harvest Festival. I’m going to spend Saturday touring around wine tasting etcetera.
Just a seconder for Big Boss Groove at the Chess Board in Gearema Place on Friday. I have seen them and they are a fun and tight funk/dance/disco/horn band featuring current and former members of the RMC band. 7-9, a great way to kick off the night.
Brrr…I was just at a multi-day meeting at Rydges and the food was way mediocre…
Paul van Dyk. One of the worlds biggests DJs.
ANU Refectory. Third Release tickets are 55$ +bf from stocks, landspeed etc.
Possibly available on the door.
Jeff Drake 8-10
PvD 10-1
Archie 1-3
Enerv8 vs FastTwitch 3-5
Then theres the obligatory after party at cube, from 5am.
Can anyone recommend a good lunchtime smorgasboard? Not a cheap one like Dickson Family Food court(which is great in a pinch) but one with more continental fare.
I was going to Rydges on the highway but the last time was so abysmal I’m not going back.
Plus these things are on Firday night for anyone interested:

Carus & the True Believers at Australian National University

GILF at The Soul Bar
Los Capitanes with The Gingers(melb), Strong Like Sam, Dj Scroll at Holy Grail – Civic
The Ashburys with Australian Kingswood Factory, Are the Brave all Dead at Petes Bar and Tavern

As for me, I’m planning an evening of music on Friday. Possibly starting with the Youth Week concert (Casual Projects, DJ Rush, Omar Musa, Hancock Basement, Lockdown, Urban Lava) near the fountain outside the Canberra Centre from 4pm, then definitely Big Boss Groove (funk and disco I’m told) in Garema Place from 7pm and later head on to the Los Capitanes CD launch at Holy Grail (with The Doors, The Gingers and Strong like Sam) which kicks off at 8.30ish.
