A five-time drink-drive offender caught for the sixth time was among the 59 people apprehended by ACT Policing in an intensive Random Breath Testing effort last week (Monday, July 12- Monday, July 19).
The 43-year-old Richardson man was driving south on the Monaro Highway, near Hume, when he was stopped by police around 1.40pm on Monday, July 12.
The man returned a positive reading to a roadside screening for the presence of alcohol, and was conveyed to Tuggeranong Police Station, where he later recorded a Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) of 0.08.
His licence permits him to drive only with a BAC of 0.05 or less. He will be summonsed to appear in court on September 22.
Of the 59 drivers who tested positive to alcohol during the week, 22 had conditions which permitted them to only have a BAC of 0.02 or less. The highest of these was that recorded by a 25-year-old male from Bruce, whose BAC of 0.213 – or more than 10 times his permitted level – followed a collision in Belconnen around 3am on Thursday, July 15.
