Over at The Concatenate I’ve noted Canberra’s reaction to the National Wear Khaki Day in honour of Steve Irwin.
Civic at lunchtime certainly didn’t seem to be getting into the spirit of things.
So do any of you want to ‘fess up to taking part.

Nah, in memory of Brockie, on Friday we should all fang around in Holdens and smoke a pack of Marlboro Red each in the morning.
By the afternoon, we will find ourselves with Crystals and energy polarisers. We’ll be into self help, and drive Fords, BMW’s and Volvos.
By the evening, we’ll root the best mates missus and fang around in Monaro’s and fibreglass specials…
RIP Brocky – noone could get around the mountain the way you did.
For anyone who cares, here is an interesting bit of Brock trivia. In 1979, Peter Brock was leading the Bathurst 1000 by an amazing 6 laps over the opposition in his Torana A9X. Instead of taking it easy for the 163rd and last lap of the race and soaking in the crowds adulation, Brockie put his head down and did not only the fastest lap of the race, but broke the Mt Panorama lap record. It was a sign that he was not only mechanically sympathetic on his vehicles, but even after 5 hours at the wheel over a day, had unbelievable powers of concentration…
I *really* hope that it will be Overalls Day!
As a youngster, I worked at ADFA, and one of my most fond memories was eating lunch, watching the female students stroll past – Army Overalls dont fit in all of the *right* places.
VY, Wana hang out in civic perving?
Probably more like “National dump your partner for your friends ex partner” day – or so I heard ?
Does this mean that next Friday will be “National Wear Racing Overalls Day”?
i was going to but germaine greers cat was sleeping on my khaki trousers and hissed at me when i tried to put them on.
I have a khaki t-shirt that says “I’M PROUD TO BE A LESBIAN”, but I forgot to wear it.
unknowingly, I did.
I have a dark green kahki-ish “got meth” shirt.
wore it on friday cause if elt like it.
makes me feel sick to my stomach.
on that note, has anyone seen the video yet ?
It was washing day and all my Khakis were in the wash, gosh darn it.
Shit, I accidentally did wear a sort of khaki top.
I hope no one saw me and drew the wrong conclusions.
Even if I’d wanted to participate, I don’t own a single item of khaki clothing. Shame on me I guess.
I had Khaki undies on…..
(OK – you got me – I hadn’t heard it was National Wear Khaki Day)
