ACT Policing is pleased with behaviour at Australia Day events yesterday (Wednesday, 26 January) at Commonwealth Place.
During the course of the day ACT Policing apprehended six juveniles for alcohol-related incidents, and a further five children were taken into protective custody due lack of appropriate supervision.
Operation Commander, Sergeant David Williams said that he was pleased to see Canberrans enjoying Australia Day festivities with minimal disruption.
“It was a great atmosphere with thousands of Canberra families enjoying the festivities. We were happy with the crowd behaviour,” Sergeant Williams said.
ACT Policing Traffic Operations detected three drivers who exceeded the 0.05 limit. Police arrested a 21-year-old Chisholm man after contravening the conditions of his special license and providing a positive sample of 0.151.
Traffic Operations members also detected a 19-year-old Holt man, who holds a provisional license exceeding the speed limit by 67km/h along William Hovell Drive. The man was detected travelling at 157km/h in a 90km/h zone.
