ACT Policing is seeking assistance from witnesses in its investigation of an aggravated burglary at the IGA Supermarket in Chapman last night (Friday, February 25).
Around 8.30pm, an employee from the supermarket entered the office and saw a man standing near the office door. The employee managed to push the door into the offender and then ran back to the rear store room. A short time later three employees went to the office and found that the offender had left the store through a window.
The offender stole a sum of cash from a safe within the office. He left several items behind in the office including a knife and hacksaw.
The offender is described as having a large/tall build and was wearing dark coloured clothing on his upper body.
Any witnesses who were in the proximity of the IGA supermarket in Chapman around the time of the offence and may have seen any person matching the description provided or acting suspiciously, are urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers website on www.act.crimestoppers.com.au.
