The Beast has been celebrating today as Jon Stanhope’s 60th birthday.
Apparently he’s feeling chipper and good for another 10 years.
Aside from millions in commonwealth funding for his arboretum what gifts are you hoping he gets today?

“Apparently he’s feeling chipper and good for another 10 years.”
That’s what he said. Now, the question is was this the comment that sparked the party to move him along or were moves already underway and that was a desperate last stand on his part to assert dominance.

Looks like he got my present 🙂

And I’ll throw in the compliment that he is in remarkable shape for a man of his age, he looks 10 yrs younger.
I was amazed to read that he is 60. I truly hope I’m in such good shape in another 13 years.
I have no doubt he’ll be hanging around, and there can also be no doubt that he is a passionate supporter of all things Canberran. And he will listen to reasoned face-to-face argument. That’s always a good foundation.
I hope he got the gift of perspective and self-awareness, as he appears to lack both in equal measure.
I don’t like a lot of the stuff Stanhope has done, but I hope he had a happy birthday.
What gifts are you hoping he gets today?
Is “an incurable disease” too harsh?

Despite my misgivings about the man and his policies (esp public “art”) I’ll wish him a happy one, he deserves no less.
Ditto.

You ARE in a generous mood this afternoon – had a couple of pints ahead of the Stranglers have you 😉

Unfortunately not… he said he’s feeling well and has no plans to stop working for another 4 years.
As his labor underlings are unlikely to oust him it looks like it up to the voters to determine when he will retire (though given the alternatives and the inabilty of most voters to look beyond the ALP, LP or the ALP far left faction… I mean the Greens, it looks like Hopeless is here for sometime still).

A swift kick to the head from the common sense police.
