Alleged driver accused of killing Jackie McKeown in crash named

The alleged driver accused of killing tourism leader Jackie McKeown south of Queanbeyan has had her case mentioned in court.

Ms McKeown was the director of visitor services at the Canberra and Region Visitors Centre.

The 48-year-old was walking along Bicentennial Drive in Jerrabomberra on the morning of 17 November 2024 when she was hit by a ute, NSW Police previously alleged.

Paramedics arrived and began CPR, but she died at the scene.

The alleged driver of the ute, 54-year-old Teresa Anne McDonald, suffered broken ribs and facial injuries in the crash.

She was taken to hospital for treatment and mandatory testing.

Ms McDonald, who is from the Queanbeyan-Palerang region, was later issued with a court attendance notice for the charges of dangerous driving occasioning death and negligent driving occasioning death.

Her case was mentioned in the Queanbeyan Local Court on Monday (5 May), where it was adjourned to 7 July for another mention.
