That’s looks like a Subaru of about the right age to completely fall to bits, it probably started pulling sharply to the left and that is the best the owner could do. Now they are calling ezy-scrap

It’s not hard to park inside the lines, regardless of what time of day it is. In fact it’s easier to do so in an empty car park. Being too lazy or in so much of a hurry that you can’t take an extra 5-10 seconds to line yourself up is not a legitimate reason.
Sure, this driver may not be inconveniencing anyone by parking like this at this particular moment in time, but I still think they are a tool for doing it. It’s not a big car and it’s really not that difficult. /shrug
totaly agree, sarahsquared – to me it’s about the mindset of driving: if you do everything correctly every time you’re meant to do it, it becomes second nature and you won’t not do it when it might matter (ie, with a police car right behind you, f’rinstance!). like putting a seatbelt on – who now can’t sit in a car without instinctively reaching for one? same goes for stopping at stop signs (they have that word ‘stop’ on them for a reason, y’know), doing the speed limit in 40 zones (and all other zones!), indicating (what’s that?? ask canberra drivers), etc…
that said, breaking out now and again can be good for the soul!
Agree with just about all of what you’ve said about the mindset of driving, but I find Canberra drivers are very good at indicating. Even when they are breaking numerous other road rules, they still manage to use the indicator; very strange indeed.

My money is on that s/he hasn’t even slept, and would blow the needle off the scale.

You’re right, early in the morning in an empty carpark, it’s really not that important in the scheme of things – in fact, it shows how good life is if we bother to complain about such things! I’ll go even further in this case – the driver wants to sit there with his door open so he’s actually being courteous to any passengers of the white Toyota hatchback by leaving them space to use the passenger side doors (though I’d have just used the next whole space to the left).
That said, I still wouldn’t park my car like that – not just for fear of being photographed for the RIOTACT! Not everyone who parks like this is incapable of doing better, but some are, and I want to avoid any ambiguity!
