The ACT Rural Fire Service will tomorrow morning, Thursday 6 December, 2012, weather permitting, assist a private land owner with a hazard reduction burn at the property “Westwood Farm”, Kambah Pool Road, Kambah, from 8.30am till 12pm.

Two heavy tankers, one Compressed Air Foam System (CAFS) tanker, one light unit, two command vehicles and nine personnel will conduct the burn of grass of approximately five hectares.

The ACT Handy Map grid reference for the burn is J14.

The purpose of the burn is to remove a fuel hazard.

Temporary smoke cover may occur. Every effort is made to conduct the burns in weather conditions that will minimise the impact of smoke in the area.

The Health Directorate advises that people with asthma, other chronic respiratory and/or chronic cardiac diseases should not perform vigorous exercise and should stay inside if affected by the smoke. People with asthma in particular should continue their medication and consult their general practitioner if they have any difficulties.
