A 21-year-old Dunlop man will appear in the ACT Magistrates Court on December 14 on assault charges after an incident in Holt last night (Saturday, 8 December).
It will be alleged that an ACT ambulance with two officers on board and en route to a Priority One medical emergency had cause to take evasive action and stop their vehicle suddenly to avoid a man running onto the roadway in Holt around 6.35pm.
The man broke off the ambulance wing mirror and damaged the side panel. He was then joined by two other men.
The ACTAS officers exited the ambulance, called for assistance and officers from Belconnen Patrol responded quickly.
The alleged offender was identified but failed to comply with police directions. The man then assaulted police and was taken into custody.
He was conveyed to the ACT Watch House where he was charged with two counts of common assault, four counts of obstructing a Territory official and a separate charge of property damage.
Neither the ACTAS officers nor police were injured during the incident.
