A young teenager has been charged after she allegedly threatened store staff with a knife before spitting in the face of a police officer during her arrest.
Police went to a department store in Woden on Wednesday afternoon (15 October) after hearing allegations the 16-year-old girl was threatening a staff member with a knife, an ACT Policing spokesperson said.
The officers soon found the girl in a nearby carpark and arrested her.
“The girl became aggressive, allegedly spitting in the face of an officer and making verbal threats,” the police spokesperson said.
When the officers searched her bags, they allegedly discovered numerous stolen items.
They also found a knife nearby that matched the description of the one allegedly used in the department store.
The girl was charged with robbery, assaulting a frontline community service provider and unlawful possession of stolen property.
She was scheduled to face the ACT Childrens Court on Thursday (16 October).
