Had a crew of them come around asking the same thing in another part of Tuggeranong. They looked sus as hell, and an odd time too.

To me this sounds like the sort of thing the police may indeed wish to know about; coincidence is a very rare occurrence.

There was no argument about the other one being an aggravated burglary either. Can’t tell if you’re just trying to get a reaction out of people or whether you are serious; I hope it’s the former.

Allow me to clarify – the ACT lawmakers, in their infinite wisdom and different from some other comparable jurisdictions, have decided to classify breaking into an empty house in company of another person, as the same offence (and therefore the same maximum penalty) as breaking into an occupied house, and assaulting and terrorising the occupant(s) (whether or not the offender was alone or with one or more others), and stealing something.

The latter incident could actually also be called robbery, another term that is greatly misused in Australia. (I once overheard someone say they were robbed on the train, and it turned out they had been pickpocketed.) It could also have been called Deprivation of Liberty. It will be interesting to see what the perpetrators are eventually charged with, if they are caught.

The term home invasion, by the way, has no meaning in the ACT, to my knowledge. (I think WA has laws defining home invasion, possibly some other states and territories.)

“Police are interested in speaking to any members of the public who…. may have recently seen persons acting suspiciously in the area”. Christ, where would you start! I live just off Boddington and the people not acting suspiciously are the one’s who stand out.

Scary stuff. I live pretty close to here so I hope they catch them.

They obviously are pretty desperate for cash so think its likely they will do this again.
