ACT Policing has arrested a 29-year-old Torrens man for a robbery in Civic on Sunday evening (April 24).
About 10.45pm the female victim was walking towards the intersection of East Row and London Circuit when she was approached by a man who asked her for some money. The man offered to exchange phone numbers so he could organise to pay the money back.
After the woman refused, the male offender threatened to bash her and demanded she accompany him to a nearby ATM to withdraw money. The victim went with the offender to an ATM where she withdrew a sum of money and gave it to the offender.
The victim asked for the offender’s phone number, and after he gave it to her, he left in the direction of Petrie Plaza.
Inquiries by ACT Policing led to the arrest of the alleged offender on Thursday (April 28) at the Woden Plaza. He was transported to the ACT Watch House and will face the ACT Magistrates Court this morning charged with robbery.
