If you’re serious about a quality dash camera, the BlackVue Dash Cam is well regarded. It has a lot of features that the likes of a GoPro or other cheap models don’t have, like GPS logging, G-sensor event detection, motion detection whilst parked and the new model has built in wifi for direct download to your smartphone. Plus it’s fairly non intrusive, and if you hard wire it, almost a set and forget. But of course it comes at a price ($300 upwards)

Interesting I turn here every day and this is the first I have even seen of people running the lights so blatantly and overall I reckon these lights have improved things quite a bit.

That said the dick heads have created new problems, being the bus stop that can be seen in the video. Placed at the bottom of a hill with stupid line marking. Won’t take long after buses start using this stop (which I believe will be when they finish the Starke Street intersection beyond the lights) before someone gets hit.

Which is more evidence to the fact that traffic lights don’t work. I see they’ve removed the roundabout at the top of Lady Denman Drive and have installed traffic lights. Disgusting.

This video makes me so angry. These lights were put in place to prevent accidents at this black spot. I was unlucky enough to attend an accident at this intersection, before the lights went in, where a motorbike rider was killed because someone failed to give way in the exact same manner as these idiots running the red light. Unfortunately, since these lights have gone in people run the lights quite often.

There’s no correlation between choice of transport and breaking rules. An asshole is an asshole.

That said however, one particular group takes great offence over being shown evidence of wrong doing and breaks out a retaliatory thread near immediately. When are car runs a red light (with the high risk of killing someone) you dont really care? But when a cyclist doesnt meet your expectaion of courteus they should be strung up?

You will probably find the reason for the backlash by cyclists is because they are over represented in the “I’m going to pick on another road user” whinge threads. Also, because the very people who are whinging are also quite likely antagonising the people they are whinging about by driving too close, not giving way at intersections ect (actual road rules BTW) & wondering why a cyclists get a bit testy.

It is obvious that the hypocracy of this is lost on you and your holier than thou attitude.

I dont think anyone would disagree with your first sentence & that is pretty well what most people were saying in your thread but then you disagreed with them anyway which was odd.

BTW, if it makes you feel any better, I had a go at a couple of cyclists riding agains the little red man this morning. I couldnt have a go at numerous cars that I saw do the same thing though……..

What?! No, because the traffic signal is not a suggestion – they are mandatory (though, as the video in this thread shows, it’s not just cyclists that seem to have difficulty with this). Unlike your “Dismount” signs which are advisory (black text on yellow background), and certainly not enforceable since they contradict existing legislation.

If you want me to “white-knight” for the cyclist in the other thread, you might consider that many traffic lights don’t respond to a bicycle (I’ve seen one that wouldn’t even respond to a motorbike). By not responding to a legitimate road craft, the signals can be considered to be malfunctioning and should be treated as a STOP sign (a lot of Canberra road users don’t have a clue what to do when they see malfunctioning traffic signals, eg. flashing orange or blacked out. Come to think of it, many don’t even know what to do at a STOP sign!). It cannot be seen from the video whether the cyclist actually came to a complete stop before proceeding into the intersection.

Invoking me into this thread of tantrums is pointless. Its the same thing over and over anyway.
I say “yep sure, the car was wrong in this case. The cyclist in the other thread was also wrong.”
You say “the murder machine almost killed thousands! The cyclist in the other thread had no other choice. Besides, red lights are optional for bike riders. He did no wrong.”

…and around and around it goes. It’ll just be another 3 pages of that anyway so might as well get it out of the way.
